Water Quality Matters
Rep. Buffie McFadyen’s HB 1352 says water court judges need to consider water quality before ruling on large transfers of water from one area of the state to another. This means a lot to those of us who’d be left with the salty, polluted water such transfers might otherwise leave behind.
The vote count was close, but it passed the House on Tuesday. Rep. Mark Larson (a Republican from Cortez) supported it in the beginning, changed his mind, then changed it back again to support it in the final vote. Please thank Rep. Larson; he did the right thing. (And thank YOU if you were among those who called or emailed to encourage his support.) Now it’s off to the Senate; prepare for a bumpy ride.
