Rep. Mary Hodge's "Toward the end of Session" Newsletter
“In a week, or less, the 65th General Assembly will adjourn, although Governor Owens has threatened to call us back into Special Session if we don’t deal with PERA in a manner he approves. There is a bill reflecting compromise put together by PERA, employee groups such as CEA and Public Employees, and other interested parties,” writes Rep. Mary Hodge of Brighton.
She continues, “In this past session, thanks to the passage of Referendum C, we’ve been able to right some wrongs: we’ve eliminated the developmentally disabled waiting list, we’ve put money back into vocational education, the endangered species act is funded again, school funding has increased, Medicaid payments are more equitable. In all, it’s been a positive session.”
Her newsletter continues by outlining pending issues; you can read about it here.
