House Adjourns Early, Saves Taxpayers Cold Hard Cash
After last year’s early end of session, no one was surprised (but many were giddy) when Speaker of the House Andrew Romanoff declared the finale to the 2006 General Assembly at 11:22PM Monday night. After receiving congratulations from Governor Bill Owens for a job well done, the House adjourned. But the party wasn’t over until some melodious representatives sang a rousing “Happy Birthday” to any colleagues who have the good (or mis) fortune to celebrate their births in the interim session. The early conclusion of the session saved taxpayers $30 grand; the singing was thrown in for free.
