Live in Peace, Rest in Peace
OK, they’re wildly different pieces of legislation, but the connection’s still there.
Thanks to HB 257, sponsored by Rep. Gwyn Green of Golden, homeowners who’ve had the volume turned up by highway hullabaloo will get a chance to turn their radios down. If Gov. Owens signs the bill, homeowners who were there before a noisy highway was built will have a chance to mitigate the noise and once again enjoy their backyard bbqs.
House Bill 1382, sponsored by Reps. Michael Merrifield of Colorado Springs and Buffie McFadyen of Pueblo West, will give mourners some peace while they bury their dead. It imposes a 100 foot limit on protesters at funerals. This bill was a hard one to hammer out because legislators had to respect the protestors’ first amendment rights while protecting grieving families. They did a good job.
