Rep. Anne McGihon: Health Care Commission a Reality!
On Tuesday, May 30, 2006, Governor Owens signed my bill establishing the Identity Theft and Financial Fraud investigation unit into law. The Unit will investigate and assist in prosecuting fraud and identity theft across Colorado.
I am also very happy to report that the Governor signed SB 208 on Friday just before noon. The bill establishes a Blue Ribbon Commission comprised of community leaders in business, consumer affairs and health care providers and others, to conduct an analysis and financial comparison (using Colorado data) of proposals to resolve Colorado’s continuing health care crisis and rising numbers of uninsured. The Commission’s goal is to find solutions to expand health care coverage and decrease health care costs for Coloradoans. The Commission will conduct hearings across the state on the various proposals and will propose a legislative solution by November 2007. Read the final version of the bill here (scroll to SB 208).
