Dems Diversify Economy, Create Jobs & Revenue
Yesterday’s Rocky Mountain News touts an unprecedented $26.5 million invested in jobs and the local economy:
Gov. Bill Owens signed a package of bills Monday that will provide $26.5 million to boost Colorado’s economy, including money to lure tourists to watch mating prairie hens, put on plays in Creede and provide incentives for businesses.
[...]
The package was part of a bipartisan effort to get the state back on its feet after voters agreed in November to give up $4 billion in tax surplus refunds for the next five years.“In further fulfilling the promise of Referendum C, the investments we have made through this legislative package will diversify our economy, increase jobs and local tax revenue while insulating the state from the impacts of future downturns,” said Rep. Tom Plant, D-Nederland.
Now that’s good business and good government.
