Rep. Morgan Carroll: Lobby Reform Bill Signed Into Law!

Directly from Rep. Carroll’s blog:

Today is a great day for democracy! Today is a day where ordinary citizens, dedicated citizens triumphed over special interest groups. Today Governor Owens signed HB 1149 (M. Carroll / Tupa Lobby Reform) into law and allowed SB 51 (Weissmann /Tupa) cash gift ban to lawmakers) to become law without his signature. This bill will bring greater transparency about who lobbyists work for, what bill numbers they are working, their clients positions (if any) on bills they are working, any direct financial relationships between lobbyists and legislation and lawmakers. In short this bill will help the public know who is lobbying for or against what and for whom. Nobody ever thought this bill would pass. I really want to thank all of you who took the time to contact your reps, your senators, journalists, the governor and make sure they knew you were watching and expecting transparency and accountability in your government. You made the difference for being involved. Thank you so much!

Thanks to all of you for those calls and emails to the Gov!
