Let's Call a Special Session to Stop Election-Year Posturing
After seven years without a peep about illegal immigration in his State of the State speeches, I’m guessing Governor Bill Owens was mute because he didn’t have a plan. Now it’s looking politically prudent to push illegal immigration reform, so he’s called a special session, but he still has no plan:
“The governor has said he will wait and see what we produce,” Romanoff said in the Denver Post. “I would encourage him not to wait and see. I would ask him to stand and deliver. We have asked him and his administration some tough questions in the last few weeks. We haven’t gotten any answers.”
After all the Republican political posturing over illegal immigration, I’m starting to think the $15,000 a day Colorado taxpayers will be paying to convene the special session should be considered a campaign contribution.
