Witness Protection Law Passed After Murders
Representative Michael Garcia worked with the families of Javad Marshall Fields and his fiancee Vivian Wolfe to craft and pass legislation to protect others from their tragic fate. Fields and Wolfe were slain because Fields was scheduled to testify in a murder trial.
“House Bill 1379 will require annual training, education and risk assessment for individuals who work with witnesses,” said Garcia. “Colorado currently has a witness protection program, but there’s no training or education requirement at all.”
