House Democrats in the News
Democrats in the House are working hard on your behalf. Take a look at some of the news they're making around town and around the state.
A Breath of Fresh Air
The Denver Post is urging Governor Owens to sign the “Clean Air Bill” and so am I.
Right now, Colorado has a state law that says Colorado can’t impose stricter standards than the feds require. Representative Anne McGihon’s House Bill 1309 would fix that. It would let Coloradans decide whether or not our air-quality standards should be more stringent than those of the federal government.
It’s already passed both the House and the Senate and now it’s waiting for the Governor’s pen. I, for one, won’t breathe easy until HB 1309 is signed into law.
4/25 update: Gov. Owens vetoed the bill. See the blog for commentary and links.
